“For when the One Great Scorer comes to mark against your name, He writes – not that you won or lost – but how you played the Game.”

- Grantland Rice, Alumnus Football, 1908

We analyze what athletes do in-game.

We emphasize “in-game” because so much of contemporary sports media documents off-court and off-field interactions. The rumor machine and social media drama is exciting, but leaves us hungry. 24/7 sports media culture detracts from what made us fall in love with sports in the first place.

Our goal is to help us fall back in love, making all of us smarter observers of athletics in the process. Subscribe, and you’ll receive emails focused on an individual’s athletic process – not the result. We hope to reveal an essential truth about them, highlighting what makes them special, or how they need to grow.

No, but we hope to live up to the excellence that was Bill Simmons’ blog Grantland that was published by ESPN from 2011 to 2015. Enjoy this photo of journalist Grantland Rice, who serves as an inspiration to us all.
